2017 is quickly shaping up to be the Year of the Woman. From women ascending to unprecedented heights in their careers to protests and rights movements, women are THE force to be reckoned with.
Nicolle Nelson, founder of Delicacies Jewelry, wanted to continue to spread the message of female positivity and encouragement by extending the opportunity for world-renowned female chefs to participate in Chef’s Table, the brand’s charitable giving channel, for 2017-2018.
“I was so inspired to see thousands of women taking part in the women’s march on Washington, getting into politics, and standing up for our rights,” said Nicolle Nelson, founder of Delicacies Jewelry. “I believe the future is very female, and I wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of a few very awesome females.”
The food industry is notoriously male dominated and oftentimes women don’t get the same opportunities as male chefs to work in high-profile restaurants, despite being extremely talented. During a time of adversity towards women especially in the past year, it was important to Delicacies to create a platform for successful female chefs to be recognized for their talents as well as continue their never-ending charitable efforts.
“I’m the mom of a 10-year-old daughter. I want my daughter to see what strength, excellence and persistence looks like,” said Nelson.
Each chef selects their charity of choice and one of the ingredients from Delicacies Jewelry that is near and dear to her heart. Profits from each item purchased will go towards the charity of their choice.
Andrew Zimmern, chef, traveler, and TV host, serves as head of Delicacies Chef’s Table and Chief Giving Officer.
Delicacies Jewelry, the first full-line of jewelry for epicureans, introduces a new collection of 14K gold pendants. The brand, which started with a signature ingredient cast in sterling silver and affixed to a finished band of rich, supple leather, has now evolved to add exciting new categories such as the new 14K gold pendant. New sterling silver ingredients, tomato and artichoke, have also been added to the bracelet range. Carefully designed, crafted and created by Co-Founder and Designer Nicolle Nelson, each ingredient celebrates the natural beauty, mythology, simplicity and meaning ingrained in the food we eat.
In collaboration with chef Andrew Zimmern, Delicacies has created its own Chef’s Table, the brand’s conduit for charitable giving, which will feature three generous, well-known chefs each year to harness a shared love of food to fight hunger.
Delicacies’ first Chef’s Table includes Chefs Marcus Samuelsson, Dominique Crenn, and Gavin Kaysen. Nelson explained, “At the perennial head of Delicacies’ Chef’s Table sits Andrew Zimmern: entrepreneur, chef, traveler, TV host, culinary thought leader – and someone we are honored to call a dear friend. Andrew curates our Chef’s Table, making our giving as impactful as possible.”
Every piece of jewelry purchased creates “Delicacies Dollars” – money donated directly to a nonprofit organization that fights hunger and food insecurity. Consulting the Chef’s Table of culinary experts to decide on the hunger relief organizations that the Delicacies Dollars go to, Delicacies uses the energy and love present in their simple, beautiful ingredients to help ALL of us. Delicacies Jewelry made its first donation to Share Our Strength / No Kid Hungry in April, Zimmern’s charity of choice.
