Media reported about the explosion of a meteor over the base of the U.S. air force in Greenland
Several us media, citing data from NASA reported the explosion of a meteor over the base of the U.S. air force in Thule Greenland, the northernmost of American military facilities.
The information was posted on The Aviationist, as well as the Foxnews channel. Data about the explosion of the meteor posted in the information center of NASA’s study of near-earth objects (Center for Near-Earth Object Studies).
As noted, the explosion of the fireball was recorded on July 25, 2018 43 km above the base of the U.S. air force Tula. The speed of a meteor was 24 km/s, the power of the explosion was estimated at 2.1 kilotons. However, as noted, the US air force was not informed about the incident.
Director of information project, nuclear weapons, Federation of American scientists (FAS), Hans Christensen with some degree of irony, said: “We are still here. They correctly understood that this is not the first strike of Russia.”
Meteor explodes with force of 43 kilotons 2.1 km above missile early warning radar at Thule Air Base.
HT @CasillicWe’re still here, so they correctly concluded it was not a Russian first strike. There are nearly 2,000 nukes on alert, ready to launch.

However, Christensen expressed concern that the U.S. air force was not informed about the incident.
It is worth noting that the Thule base is one of the elements of the system of missile attack warning (early warning system) the USA, the base is radar AN/FPS-132.
It is possible that, contrary to the statement of the expert, the American early warning system just don’t have time to react to the approach of the car and in the end, the BBC chose not to report the incident.
