The Pentagon has begun to create promising systems for an instant global strike, which, even with non-nuclear equipment, will be able to solve the tasks of the strategic nuclear forces. This was announced during the Russian-Chinese briefing on missile defense issues by the representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Alexander Yemelyanov.
The United States is building up the capabilities of the missile defense system
“Realizing the concept of joint use of offensive and defensive weapons, the Pentagon has begun to create promising strike systems for an instant global strike,” Yemelyanov said.
According to him, these complexes are entrusted with tasks similar to the requirements of the strategic nuclear forces, TASS reports.
In addition, a representative of the Ministry of Defense analyzed the American missile defense (ABM) system, saying that in the near future it will reach «a qualitatively new level.»
So, by 2022, the United States’ arsenal will have more than 1,000 interceptor missiles, and in the future, their number will exceed the number of warheads on Russia’s intercontinental missiles, Yemelyanov noted.
According to a representative of the Russian defense department, the relationship between plans to deploy a missile defense system and create means of instant global strike is obvious.
“By delivering a ‘disarming’ strike against targets of Russian and Chinese strategic nuclear forces, the effectiveness of the American missile defense system will significantly increase,” he said.
Systems of instant global strike are non-nuclear high-precision systems that allow you to quickly (within 60 minutes from the moment of making a decision) strike at any target on the globe.
