The crane-building company Baltkran will supply the ninth container crane for the Belarusian Railways, the press service of the enterprise reports.
In particular, as the manufacturer notes, a new container crane with a lifting capacity of 45 tons was ordered to increase the throughput of the Brest intermodal terminal, as well as the volume of container traffic following the New Silk Road project from China to Europe and vice versa.
The delivery of the crane is scheduled for the first half of 2018.
According to the Main Computing Center (MCC) of Russian Railways, the turnover of loaded containers at the Brest station in January-September 2017 increased by 83% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 196,786 TEU (the equivalent of a 20-foot container).
At the same time, the turnover of containers at the station, coming from China through Kazakhstan, amounted to 91 647 TEU.
