In Voronezh Oblast, on Saturday, June 16, power unit No. 5 of the Novovoronezh NPP (NV NPP) was shut down for scheduled preventive repairs (PPR).
PPR is an annual planned procedure carried out at power units of all Russian nuclear power plants in order to maintain a stable working condition of equipment.
During the PPR of the power unit No. 5 of the NNPP, fuel will be reloaded in the reactor core, as well as the average repair of the main and auxiliary equipment of the reactor compartment and the overhaul of the turbine unit No. 13.
At present, power unit No. 1 of the NV NPP-2 (No. 6 of the NV NPP) is operating normally and carries a load in accordance with the dispatch schedule. Large-scale planned modernization works are underway at Unit 4. And at the power unit No. 2 of the Novovoronezh NPP-2 (unit No. 7 of the NVNPP), commissioning is underway.
At Novovoronezh NPP, one of the most important tests of the new power unit was carried out
The first step was to test the electric motors of the main circulation pumps at idle. This is one of the important commissioning operations in preparation for bringing the pumps to working condition. Now the electric motors will be connected directly to the pumps, and the test of the entire MCP unit will begin.
In total, there are four MCPs in the power unit’s circuit; their task is to remove heat from the reactor installation and supply the primary coolant to the steam generator. To date, two out of four MCPs have been tested.
— The operation was successful, all issues were resolved in a working order. We conducted a 6-hour test of electric motors. During this time, vibration, temperature, and other technical parameters were measured, everything went without comment, ”said Andrei Belykh, shift supervisor of the power unit.
Also at the power unit No. 2 at idle, a diesel emergency backup power station was successfully tested. It is designed to ensure uninterrupted operability of primary circuit mechanisms and power unit safety systems.
Director of Balakovo NPP spoke about the tasks for this year
June 26 at the «Balakovo NPP» was the first Director’s Day this year. The meeting with the head of the nuclear power plant, Valery Bessonov, was attended by more than 200 specialists of the enterprise — representatives of all structural divisions.
At the beginning of his speech, he introduced nuclear scientists to the results of the meeting of the Supervisory Board of Rosatom and the industry conference of leaders; spoke about the priority development directions and tasks of the industry for the year, noting that safety was and remains the main priority for the enterprise.
“This is a key condition for our work, a complex task that covers all aspects of our industry as a whole,” said the director of BalAES. — Since the beginning of 2018, accidents and workplace injuries with personnel and contractors performing work on the station’s territory have not been allowed at our station. But this is not a reason to calm down, we must work with staff so that even the most insignificant violations of labor protection rules do not occur, so that all work is carried out only in strict accordance with work orders.
The head of the enterprise outlined the key tasks facing the nuclear power plant before the end of this year, including obtaining a license for an additional service life of power unit N3, conducting annealing of the reactor vessel of power unit N1, and preparing for the OSART IAEA corporate mission.
By tradition, Bessonov answered the questions of employees who received the day before via the feedback system. The meeting ended with a ceremony honoring the best workers.
Novovoronezh nuclear scientists organized a community work day in the botanical garden of VSU
The environmental protection department of the Novovoronezh NPP organized a community work day in the botanical garden of Voronezh State University as part of the all-Russian campaign “Green Spring-2018”. In 2018, the largest event in our country is held for the fifth time.
70 people took part in the environmental clean-up, including not only representatives of the Novovoronezh NPP, but also veterans of the enterprise, employees of the city kindergarten No. 10 and representatives of the supervisory authorities: the Department of Rosprirodnadzor, the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Voronezh Region.
“We are coming to the Botanical Garden named after Professor Kozo-Polyansky for the fourth time,” says Olga Romanova, head of the environmental department of the Novovoronezh NPP, “and we are rendering our best possible assistance. I want this unique natural area to really look like a botanical garden, so that the students of the biological and soil faculty of the Voronezh State University would like to attend practical classes here.
The executive director of the V. I. Vernadsky Non-Governmental Environmental Fund Olga Plyamina arrived in Voronezh from Moscow to take part in the rally. She brought gifts for the rally participants — souvenirs with the Green Spring symbolism.
