Open databases indicate that the house at 4 Komsomolskaya Street was built in 1988, but local residents say they finished building it only by the end of 1989. There are 22 entrances and 871 apartments in total.
If you try to measure the length of a parenthesis house with a virtual ruler, you will get about half a kilometer – the house will just barely be able to “embrace” the entire residential area from both sides.
House No. 3 across the street is also one of the longest in the city – it has 16 entrances
There are almost 900 apartments in the endless house
Local residents know that their house is a city record holder.
– They said “Chinese wall” – this is the third house (the house on Komsomolskaya street, 3 also got into the rating of the longest: it shares the second place with the house on Plakhotny, 74 and Kurchatova, 3. – LP). Fig! There are 16 entrances. And ours would be like that! The whole Chemskoy would be fenced off, that’s all. And it would be normal, – says Olga Nikolaevna Filippovskaya, an old-timer at home.
Locals say the house was built in stages for over a year
Olga Nikolaevna lives in the 3rd entrance from the moment of his arrival. They built the house in stages, she recalls: first they occupied the first 3 entrances, then the 4th, then the 5th and 6th, and so on.
– When we drove in, only a few floors were built behind the first arch, and even the piles were not driven into the second. Everything was still dug under the arch, we climbed the heaps, she said.
– I’ll make my way in rubber boots, I worked at Studencheskaya then, I come – my! All people are like people, in shoes, and I am in boots, ”her neighbor Tatyana confirms with a laugh.
Many moved into the house as neighbors – from settled barracks and the private sector
They moved into the house from all over the city, but in the first part of it they settled the inhabitants of wooden barracks from the “Telecentre”, from Tulskaya street and from the Kalininsky district and those who lived in the private sector, in the place of which the Severo-Chemsky housing estate was built. In the last three entrances, which are the only ones overlooking the street, to the Magellan shopping center, service housing was provided to servicemen, said Vladislav Alekseevich Mamonov, a resident of one of them – there are many colleagues among his neighbors.
The whole huge house is one polling station
More than 2 thousand people live in the house. Tatyana recalled that when her daughter went to a new school, which was built behind a neighboring house, there were 11 first grades in parallel – and almost all the children lived in one of their houses. Now Komsomolskaya, 4 is one polling station. According to the CEC, 1,799 voters are registered at this address. The local doctor has been dealing exclusively with residents of one of their houses over the past 25 years, Olga Nikolaevna assured.
So that buyers from a long house do not have to bypass it, in “Brighter!” there is a second entrance from the yard
The house actually realizes the dream of Soviet architects: it is almost completely provided with all the infrastructure, except that the restaurant has not yet been opened here. Although initially there were no shops or offices in it (apart from the extension, where there was a library for a long time, and now “Brighter!” Is working), today there are 27 organizations working in it. Several pharmacies, a couple of real estate agencies and beauty salons, a dental clinic, many different shops – there is, in general, everything. Up to the ritual service.
Apartment No. 0 has an elevator
22 elevators in the building are serviced on site: in the first entrance there is apartment number 0 – there is an elevator in it and elevators are on duty around the clock. Cameras are installed at the entrance to each entrance and on the first floors, but local residents do not know exactly who is watching them.
Cars are constantly driving through the arch through the courtyard – they go around the traffic jam on Komsomolskaya, but local residents cannot agree and block the passage
It is impossible to solve some issue related to the territory or the management of the house, says Olga Filippovskaya: the residents never gathered with the whole house, only in parts – several entrances. And then the elders at the entrances held their own meeting. The decision-making process turns out to be lengthy. This is perhaps one of the reasons why HOAs are not being formed in the house: many residents simply do not want to do this.
One of the entrances of the house was twice recognized as the best in the city, but since then it has been badly worn out.
One of the entrances of Komsomolskaya, 4 – the third – in 2011 and 2012 was recognized as the best in the city. Olga Nikolaevna complained that she wanted to go to the competition in 2013, but they didn’t take it – it wasn’t supposed to: the entrances had as many terms in a row as the president. And after some time, all the decoration – curtains on the windows, flowers on the windowsills, decorative figures – were taken away.
Some apartments not only fenced off from the entrance, but even built themselves an additional common hallway
Today the house has 22 housing options for sale. A room can be bought for 450 thousand rubles, prices for apartments vary from 1.9 million rubles for a “kopeck piece” with an area of 43.3 sq. m up to 3.55 million – for a 3-room apartment in 62 squares.
The layouts here are typical, but they vary, Olga Filippovskaya said: for example, in their entrance on one side to the 5th floor there are “kopeck pieces”, and on the 6th and higher there are “treshki”, on the contrary – “kopeck piece”, and in the next entrance, behind the wall, – 4-room apartments.
It turned out to be difficult to find a rental option in a huge house – everything had already been sorted out
In the lease, surprisingly, there was not a single option, but there are many tenants, local residents say, most of them are visitors from the CIS countries, many of whom trade in the markets.
Now the residents are not as friendly as they used to be, the locals complained, but the dogs here are very friendly
You can get to the house from one of two stops: “Komsomolskaya” or “Severo-Chemskoy Zhilmassiv”. You leave the house, you reach the opposite corner – “New stop, hello,” the locals joke.
At the beginning of the house, on the road, there are the same slabs that were laid here in the late 1980s – for some reason they did not roll them into the asphalt when repairing the driveway along the house
There have always been many problems at home, says Olga Nikolaevna, who was the head of the house for several years. Some of them do not depend on the residents of the house in any way. For example, when in the early 1990s the cooperative houses, which are included in the “bracket” of Komsomolskaya, 4, were completed, it became very noisy in the closed courtyard – not because of the number of people, but because of the resulting acoustics.
One of the problems is the terrible acoustics in the courtyard: you can hear it even when they speak in whispers on the bench, the residents assure
– It’s like a well here. Can you imagine where the railway bridge is? Trains go, at night here – tukh-tukh, tukh-tukh, – complained Filippovskaya. – But the trains are better than what’s going on in the yard. All young people gather on the benches. I agree that young people, but not all night. <…> If you come up to speak, it is useless: they will be sent there, from where you will never return.
There is a stall between the courtyards on the aisle to the arch in addition to many shops.
Inside the “brackets” there are four cozy green courtyards, one of them has several outdoor exercise machines, but in general there is nothing special for teenagers to do in the courtyards, so they gather at the new site near the school. But between the houses there was a stall.
A parking lot is being built in one of the courtyards – there is a catastrophic lack of places
There is a catastrophic lack of parking spaces in the courtyards, and cars are gradually reclaiming the lawns: they plan to asphalt some of the front gardens in front of the entrances, for example, and right now they are building a parking lot behind the house on Komsomolskaya, 14. The chairman of the local HOA Tatyana Kunsaites says that before the house was “torn out »The entire lawn, so they decided to make the parking civilized, and to improve the adjacent territory.
They plan to organize a sand pool and a recreation area near the parking lot, but so far there is no money for this
According to the plan, a 6-meter sand pool and a recreation area with benches and hedges will be organized here – 500 seedlings have already been purchased for the latter. True, local residents will not receive all this soon – the HOA is sorely lacking money.
There is a garbage chute in the house and an employee of the management company cleans it every day – however, locals complain, sometimes she cannot get between the parked cars
Architect Igor Popovsky says that long houses – they were really called “Chinese walls” by the people – were quite common in Russia.
– Both were brick and panel “Chinese walls”. In Moscow, the longest house, house-ship – “House of Atomic Engineers” on Tulskaya. He was very fashionable, – he recalls.
Very long houses were a building trend in the late 1980s
According to the architect, the trend was based, on the one hand, on the wave of modernism and craving for everything “gigantic”, on the other hand, on the return to the creation of environment, quarter architecture, when houses were again built along the streets. At the same time, the quarters were enlarged, as in the 1920s.
– Such a quarter as Vokzalnaya – Chelyuskintsev – Narymskaya – Dimitrov Avenue is a gigantic quarter, inside which Sibirskaya Street was considered not a street, but an intra-quarter passage, – explains Popovsky. – The Chelyuskinsky residential area was built in exactly the same way: the street in 1905 was an intra-quarter passage. Schools and so on went to them. And around there was a trend to build “Chinese walls”, long houses.
“Chinese Walls” are formed not just by neighborhoods, but by whole microdistricts
The peak of the popularity of building such houses fell on the 1980s, but it is likely that modern developers will return to the construction of Siberian “walls”. One of the long houses has been built by the First Construction Fund group for several years on Start, 1. In the meantime, it breaks records for the number of apartments: there are already 1194 of them in the unfinished new building.
