The construction of the NPP unit-2

In the Voronezh region at unit 2 of Novovoronezh NPP-2 (power unit No. 7 of Novovoronezh NPP) started stage cold-hot running equipment (COM).

COM is the most important stage of commissioning, during which there takes place check of operability of equipment: the testing of protection systems of the first and second circuits against excessive pressure, conduct performance testing of the main circulation pumps (MCP), check the control system protection of the reactor plant.

This is the last major manufacturing operation on the unit, preceding the stage of physical start-up. Hot-cold running-in is to confirm its reliable and safe operation.

COM phase will last about 100 days. The run began with a “cold” phases”, which will be held within 35 days in accordance with the schedule.

– We have conducted hydraulic tests of the first and second circuit at a pressure of 3.2 and 2.0 MPa, confirmed the integrity of these outlines, – said the Director of Novovoronezh NPP Vladimir Cooks, and now we are going to include main circulating pumps to perform the necessary tests for density and strength. We should confirm that all mechanisms are functioning properly and then move to stages that are associated with obtaining a license of the Rostechnadzor for loading nuclear fuel into the reactor.

After the “cold” phase of the COM will start “hot”, which would confirm the performance of main and auxiliary equipment and systems of reactor facility already in the design, operating modes. In this sub-specialists commissioning and operation of a run-in for 100 hours on a hot setting (set pressure of 16.0 MPa and a temperature 280 degrees Celsius), four main circulation pump.

Thus, the successful implementation of the cold-hot running-in of equipment of power unit No. 2 of Novovoronezh NPP-2 (No. 7 Novovoronezh NPP) will mean the end of one of the last stages before final readiness for start-up.

At Novovoronezh NPP-2 completed test generator for Autonomous power supply

On starting the unit 2 of Novovoronezh NPP-2 completed the next important stage of commissioning – complex tests of diesel-generator set (DGS) reserve power station. It is necessary to supply for their own needs nuclear power plant in case of an emergency situation when the main power supply has failed. Tests completed on Sunday, August 12.

Just starting unit is equipped with three diesel generator. Each of them represents odnokratnoe power, providing security of the facility by a separate channel. All diesel generators are equipped with Autonomous systems of fuel, cooling, oil, starting air, heating, ventilation, supply for their own needs.

For high reliability start-up each unit is equipped with a redundant start circuit, which is implemented by the signal from the control safety systems. In addition, the project includes remote start generators with block and backup control consoles, as well as local shield backup diesel power plant.

Trials launched the latest diesel genset and synchronized it to the network. Two others had previously put in a mode on duty.

– Diesel generator set has been under load for 48 hours, and immediately after the test, she was transferred to the standby mode, that is, in the condition of the watch. In case of an emergency situation the diesel generator will provide power supply of the main equipment for the transfer of the reactor plant in a safe state, – said Deputy chief engineer of Novovoronezh NPP for the construction of new blocks of Vladimir Kazan.

One of the conditions for the start of the next stage of commissioning – the “hot” phase of the cold-hot running equipment is the formulation of a mode on duty all diesel generators. Test equipment operating parameters will be held in September 2018.
