The result of a dispute about migrants in Germany, the head of the CSU, and German interior Ministry has stated its intention to resign. Party members hope to convince him otherwise.The Minister of internal Affairs of Germany and the head of the Christian social Union (CSU) Horst Seehofer (Horst Seehofer) on Sunday, July 1, declared at a meeting of the party leadership that he intends to leave both positions. This is reported by the Agency dpa and AFP, citing participants of the meeting.
For nearly eight hours, the Presidium of the CSU and representatives of the land party group of the CDU/CSU in the Bundestag discussed the possible consequences of a dispute with the Christian democratic Union around migrants. Seehofer and his supporters opposed the decision on refugees, adopted at the EU summit. According to participants, the statement Seehofer was due to the fact that his tough stance on refugees has not found full support of the audience.
The head of the land group of the CSU in the Bundestag, former Minister of transport of Germany Alexander Dobrindt (Alexander Dobrindt) would not accept the resignation Seehofer.
