On Friday, the plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District Nikolai Tsukanov introduced the Acting Governor of the Pskov Region Mikhail Vedernikov to the regional administration, representatives of law enforcement agencies and the public, a TASS correspondent reports.
“All the features of the border region are familiar to Mikhail Yuryevich from Kaliningrad. He is experienced, reliable, ready for dialogue, his experience will be in demand in the Pskov region,” the plenipotentiary said after reading the presidential decree on the early termination of the powers of Andrei Turchak and the appointment of the acting governor …
Vedernikov admitted that the region was new for him, and added that he was counting on the support of local colleagues. “I will be guided by the principle of continuity, there will be no sharp personnel decisions,” said the Acting Pskov Region.
On October 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the early resignation of the Governor of the Pskov Region Andrei Turchak. Vedernikov, who until recently held the post of Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District, was appointed acting head of the region.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who heads the United Russia party, on the same day appointed the former governor of the Pskov region, Turchak, acting secretary of the party’s General Council.
