Experts from the American Automobile Association’s (AAA) Highway Traffic Safety Foundation conducted a study and found out how distracting modern car multimedia and navigation systems are.
According to Motor.ru, the study involved 30 models, including Audi Q7, Cadillac XT5, Ford F-250, Infiniti Q50, Mazda3, Honda Civic, Volvo XC60 and others, as well as 24 drivers who used various functions of these systems during travel time at a speed of 40 km / h.
According to the study, the most innocuous function of infotainment systems is audio adjustment — changing the volume or choosing a radio station. These actions have become commonplace and do not take much time.
In second place are phone calls and SMS.
At the same time, the navigation system distracts most of all from the road: its use, especially entering an address, requires maximum concentration.
