George Weah leads the presidential elections in Liberia

Former best footballer in the world, George Weah, leads the presidential elections in Liberia, according to the BBC.

He bypasses the main competitor, Vice President Joseph Bokai, representing the “Party of Unity”.

George Weah represents the Coalition for Democratic Change. In 2005, he won the first round of the presidential election with 28% of the vote. But in the second round, the former footballer lost to Helen Johnson Sirleaf.

The counting of votes has not yet been completed. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger prematurely congratulated his former player on the victory (Weah played under Wenger at AS Monaco).

George Weah has played for Mighty Barall, Invisible Eleven, Africa Sports, Tonner (Yaounde), Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Milan, Chelsea, Manchester City , “Marseille” and “Al Jazeera”.

In 1995 he was named the best footballer in the world.
