According to the updated data, as a result of the collision, 11 people were injured , 9 of them were hospitalized. Panic broke out at the scene, hundreds of tourists scattered, trying to hide in museums and restaurants located nearby.

According to preliminary data, the car, a black Toyota, touched a road sign, entering the sidewalk, and then hit a group of pedestrians. After that, the car crashed into a parked car, as a result of which it stopped. Two policemen dragged the driver out of the car: witnesses say that this is a man with dark skin.

Eyewitnesses believe that the driver deliberately hit people on the sidewalk . The Daily Mail called the incident a «terrorist attack.»

However, Scotland Yard, which at first said that it did not rule out the version of a terrorist attack, then called the incident a road traffic accident that has nothing to do with terrorism. However, the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, admitted that the incident is under the control of Mark Rowley, head of the counterterrorism police department.
