As of the morning of October 12, California authorities confirm the death of 23 people as a result of forest fires in the north of the state.
The day before, about 600 missing residents of Sonoma County were reported. According to ABC7, at present, the fate of 285 people is unknown.
About 3 thousand houses were destroyed by fire.
In three districts – Napa, Sonoma and Yuba – the authorities introduced a state of emergency.
Tens of thousands of northern California residents have been evacuated. And state authorities continue to announce the evacuation of settlements as the flame spreads.
Thousands of firefighters and special equipment, including aircraft, are involved in fighting fires. But so far it has not been possible to cope with forest fires, and the number of fire sources is growing. On October 11, 22 such foci were reported.
Fire fighting is complicated by strong winds (gusts up to 80 km / h).
