The delegation, consisting of 50 foreign participants of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students, arrived in Dagestan on Saturday as part of the regional program of the festival, the TASS correspondent reports.
«We are glad to welcome you on the land of Dagestan. We have created all the conditions for you to get acquainted with the leaders of the youth movement of the republic, get acquainted with our rich culture, ancient history, magnificent nature and hospitable people,» said Anatoly Karibov, Acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan, who met the guests in the airoport.

For the foreign delegation, which included representatives of 33 countries, Dagestan prepared a rich program: a visit to one of the most ancient cities in the world — Derbent, the reserve on the Sarykum dune, the Sulak canyon, which is one of the deepest in the world, as well as a meeting with the leadership of Dagestan, acquaintance with the development of innovations in the republic, with local traditions and culture. Already at the exit from the airport, the festival participants were greeted with an incendiary lezginka by the artists of the honored dance ensemble «Happy Childhood».

The regional program of the World Festival of Youth and Students will take place from 14 to 17 October in 15 regions of Russia. Dagestan is the only region of the North Caucasian Federal District that has received the right to receive guests of the festival.
Dagestan at the festival in Sochi
The Republic of Dagestan sent 190 people to the festival in Sochi from different cities and regions — these are leaders of youth non-profit organizations and political parties, creative and sports youth, young journalists, university teachers, scientists. The delegation from Dagestan included 40 volunteers.
The stand of Dagestan in Sochi is made in the form of the Derbent fortress of Naryn-Kala; folk arts and crafts and national costumes of Dagestan will be presented here. Anyone can try on a burka with a papakha, take photographs against the background of Naryn-Kala.
The XIX World Festival of Youth and Students starts on October 14 in Moscow, where the international student carnival will take place, the main events of the festival will take place on October 15-22 in Sochi. The forum will bring together 20 thousand young professionals in various fields of activity, aged 18 to 35, from more than 180 countries. Other cities will also be involved in the youth holiday — 2,000 foreign participants will visit 15 Russian regions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok during the first three days of the festival.
