Navalny’s headquarters to close in Novosibirsk

On Monday, April 26, the coordinator of Navalny’s headquarters in Novosibirsk, Sergei Boyko, posted a post on his Facebook page in which he announced that the organization would be closed from tomorrow.

— From tomorrow, Navalny’s headquarters in Novosibirsk will stop working. It is foolish to get involved in a battle that cannot be won. We must take care of people. As for me personally, I do not disappear anywhere and in the near future I will concentrate on local politics, — he wrote.

In a conversation with an NGS correspondent, Sergei Boyko explained why such a decision was made.

— It did not happen at once in our country. The authorities are fighting the headquarters quite systematically. We had a confession as a foreign agent, and the FBK case, in which the searches were carried out. It is clear that this is a digression (we do not hide this, I wrote this way). The headquarters was a rather powerful political organization. We have to stop working in this format — it’s sad. But we’re not going anywhere. I have local activities. I’m a member of the city council, we have a Coalition in Novosibirsk — a very cool local project. Let’s focus on them for now. In general, the mood is militant, — said the politician.

He also stressed that the activities of the Coalition in no way overlap with the interests of the headquarters. Basically, these are two different projects with different goals.

— These are different formats. There is Navalny’s headquarters. His goal was to remove Putin and make Navalny president. This organization is being closed. And there is the Coalition, the majority of whose members are not even supporters of Navalny’s headquarters. There are a bunch of candidates from the Coalition, a bunch of people in the organizing committee who have nothing to do with the headquarters. It is clear that there are people like me there, but there is no problem here. A person can engage in various projects. This is a completely different project, it has nothing to do with it. It’s just that now we will be able to pay more attention to it due to the fact that our federal project has been closed, — added Sergei Boyko.

Last Wednesday, a rally in support of Alexei Navalny was held in Novosibirsk.

FBK (Foundation for the Fight against Corruption) is a non-profit foundation created by Alexei Navalny in 2011, the main activity of which is investigation, disclosure of corruption schemes and suppression of corruption in the highest bodies of the Russian government. In 2019, it was included by the Ministry of Justice in the list of so-called foreign agents. We are required by law to indicate this.
