Investigators opened a criminal case against a police officer in Berdsk, who did not promptly respond to the call for help. Neighbors called the police twice, complaining that a woman was being beaten in one of the apartments.
As a result, the 29-year-old Siberian woman was found dead – her husband killed her.
Who is suspected and what
– A criminal case has been initiated against a police platoon of the OR PPSP department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Berdsk, suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence, leading to the death of a person by negligence), said Anastasia Kuleshova, senior assistant to the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on NSO.
The police said that an official check is now being carried out.
– During the inspection, an assessment will be made of the actions of the police officers who left on March 29 to report the family conflict in Berdsk, and the completeness of the measures taken by them. If the guilt of the police officers is established, they will be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies and will be punished in accordance with the law, and the immediate supervisors of the officers will be brought to strict disciplinary responsibility, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
What happened
The tragedy occurred on the night of March 28-29, 2021. Early in the morning – at 05:30 – a resident of the Severny microdistrict called the police and said that her husband was threatening her with murder. The officer on duty sent a patrol-guard service crew to their home. The police detained her husband, a brawler, and took him to the department. There, the man “had a preventive conversation”, after which he was immediately released.
At 08:07 a message from a neighbor of a woman who had previously called was received from the 112 service to the duty unit. She complained that cries for help were heard from the apartment. But the policeman did not respond to this call. As a result, the husband killed his wife.
The suspect was arrested at the scene of the crime. A criminal case of murder has been initiated and is being investigated against him.

“If a police officer is found guilty and a verdict is passed against him, he will be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies, since persons with an outstanding criminal record cannot be law enforcement officers,” says lawyer Konstantin Zinoviev.
Also, according to him, a police officer can be imprisoned for up to 5 years, because we are talking about the death of a person.
– Again, there may be various extenuating circumstances: a large family, someone dependent, a pregnant wife, committed a crime for the first time. In this case, they can give a much shorter period – a year, and two, and three. They can even give a conditional sentence. This is possible, but everything will depend on the circumstances of the case. And how big will the public resonance be, – says Konstantin Zinoviev.
The Berdsk tragedy is very similar to the story of Vera Pekhteleva from Kemerovo. The ex-fiancé killed the girl at about six o’clock, neighbors called the police several times complaining of screams and pleas for help, but no one came.
