Since July 2016, Sergey Menyailo has been the plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District. Menyailo is a native of North Ossetia.
Putin. Sergei Ivanovich, the topic of our today’s conversation and meeting is clear. Especially I have nothing to ask you about, because I already know practically everything, I know your biography, work, service. I really have only one question: are you ready for the proposed job? Do you want it internally?

Putin. The republic is not alien to you, dear, in fact. How do you see the next tasks?
Changed. Vladimir Vladimirovich, I have never lost, like all of us, probably, the connection with my small homeland, so I know the situation in the republic, I know its state, I know the potential that exists, of course, and the problems that exist today not only in the Republic North Ossetia Alania.
The republic has potential in many areas. The very geographical position, climatic conditions, the presence of recreational zones, the presence of natural reserves and resources make it possible to develop these areas, in particular the sanatorium-resort direction, which was once highly developed in the Soviet Union, tourism (at one time, the tourism industry was also very highly developed), agro-industrial complex. It is understood that the outbreak of coronavirus infection has exposed weaknesses and problems in the health care system. These areas will become priority and basic in the work of the authorities of the Republic of North Ossetia — Alania.
Together with the implementation of measures of national projects, this can provide an opportunity for sustainable socio-economic development of the republic. To realize this potential, it is necessary, in my opinion, today to develop an individual comprehensive program of socio-economic development. The Government of the Russian Federation made a decision on ten regions, ten regions are included and are already developing [their programs], of which three are in the Siberian Federal District. This program is already somewhere in the development stage, and somewhere in the stage of its approval. Therefore, I ask you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, to include additionally the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania to develop such an individual comprehensive program. Development experience is.
The implementation of all these measures — both national projects and an individual comprehensive development program — will make it possible to solve those tasks and fulfill the instructions that you have set: this is the creation of new jobs, an increase in the well-being of residents of a multinational republic, the creation of comfortable living conditions, including and solving environmental issues.
Another area that I plan to continue is strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with neighboring republics. I know the heads of the republics — these are the Stavropol Territory, the Republic of Ingushetia, the Chechen Republic, the Republic of Dagestan. We know each other with the heads, I hope they will support me in this work and this work will be joint.
The implementation of such directions, Mr President, I think, will have a corresponding effect. The republic has a great human potential, which, if used together, will also give an appropriate result.
Mr President, I am ready in a month on the main areas that I have just outlined, with your consent to report on specific areas and specific proposals.
Also, Vladimir Vladimirovich, I express my gratitude for the trust and will do everything to justify it.
Putin. At the end, you said the most important thing: indeed, the republic has always been an outpost of Russia in this region. And her most important asset is, of course, people, talented, hardworking, very courageous people. Historically, it happened. A very good, high level of education, therefore, relying on these fundamental things that characterize the state of the republic, it is necessary to achieve the results that you just said, working in the areas that you outlined.
