New Southampton hotel looks exactly like a superyacht

A new luxury £25million hotel that looks exactly like a ship from the outside has been opened for holidaymakers preparing to head off on cruises.

The £175-per-night five-star Harbour Hotel has been designed to look like a super-yacht, and has a spa, gym, nightclub and even a cinema for guests to enjoy during their stay.

The boat-shaped hotel has 85 rooms, while the restaurant is headed up by top chef Alex Aitken.

An outdoor terrace includes a fire pit and a wood-fired oven with a retractable heated canopy so guests are still able to enjoy it during the winter.

The hotel is based at the Ocean Village marina in Southampton, Hampshire – within walking distance of cruise ships coming and going from the city.

Mike Warren, managing director of Harbour Hotels, which owns a number of properties across the south of England, said: ‘We are very excited to be opening this month.

‘Our spectacular five-star hotel has an indulgent spa and will provide a number of fantastic dining experiences for guests before they set off on their cruise.

‘We also have Southampton’s first rooftop bar, which locals will also be able to enjoy.

‘Our yacht-inspired design will sit beautifully in Ocean Village Marina and we want it to reflect Southampton’s thriving marine culture that makes it one of the most desirable marina locations in the UK.

‘We are very confident that the hotel and its facilities will prove a fabulous addition to Southampton, boosting tourism and becoming a destination of choice for city-dwellers and visitors alike.’
