CEC allowed the introduction of online voting nationwide by 2024

Residents of five to seven Russian regions will be able to vote electronically in the 2021 elections , and the introduction of this technology throughout the country will only be possible in 2024, the head of the CEC said.

By 2024, Russia can introduce electronic voting in elections throughout the country. The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova told reporters about this, RBC correspondent reports.

“We can confidently say that remote electronic voting nationwide can be carried out by the next federal campaign, and not by 2021. The next federal campaign is 2024, ”she said.

In the 2021 elections, residents of 5-7 Russian regions will be able to vote in electronic format. “If earlier I said that there could be no more than 20 of them, now we have reduced them for a number of factors, parameters,” explained Pamfilova.

According to her, along with electronic voting, the traditional voting at polling stations will also be preserved, specifies RIA Novosti.
