French authorities tighten restrictions on coronavirus in 15 regions

Since January 2, the French authorities are tightening curfews in 15 departments most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This was announced by the official representative of the government Gabriel Attal, reports Franceinfo.

Departments in the east of the country will have curfews two hours earlier than the rest of the country at 6:00 p.m.

Now the curfew in the whole country runs from 20:00, but on Saturday in these regions it will start at 18:00. New restrictions are being introduced in the departments of the Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardennes, Doubs, Jura, Marne, Hautes-Marne and others. Attal said the list of departments could be expanded in a week if the situation worsens.

In order to leave the house for a good reason, a special certificate is required, which was already used before, when the curfew was in effect from 20:00.

On December 15, France introduced a curfew from 20:00 to 6:00. The authorities also extended the ban on museums, theaters and cinemas until January 7. Bars and restaurants are also closed. In this case, the French can move around the country, with the exception of the time when the curfew is in effect.

Sobyanin called Moscow the target of the «main blow» of the pandemic

Moscow has become the destination of the «main blow» of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin said on the air of the Russia 1 channel. A fragment of the interview was published on his Vkontakte page.

“The largest city in Russia, a huge hub through which millions of people move. Of course, such megalopolises as Moscow, they were primarily susceptible to epidemics, epidemic risks, «he said.

Nevertheless, Sobyanin believes, the city was able to provide all Muscovites with decent medical care, «it’s worth a lot.»

According to the Moscow operational headquarters, the total number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in Moscow since the beginning of the pandemic is 815.6 thousand. Of these, more than 630 thousand people have recovered, over 11 thousand have died. The city ranks first in Russia in terms of the number of people infected and died from COVID-19.
