Libyan authorities will not create camps for illegal refugees or make any deals with the European Union to accept migrants who are expelled from the EU.
This was in an interview with the German edition of Bild, said Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Faiz Saraj.
– The EU is considering the further return of refugees back to North Africa. The EU wants to create the so-called “anchor centers”, including in your country.
“No, we won’t have that.” We are strictly against the authorities of Europe placing illegal migrants whom they no longer want to see in the EU in our country. We also will not agree to any monetary transactions with the EU on the placement of illegal migrants with us. The EU should better communicate with the countries where people come from and put pressure on these countries. We will not conclude any transactions with them. I am surprised that no one else in Europe wants to accept migrants, but at the same time they are asking us to accept hundreds of thousands more.
– You talked about the fight against the organizers of illegal migration. In your opinion, can Libya cooperate in this matter with foreign troops?
– You can not fight illegal migration through the deployment of foreign soldiers in Libya. Moreover, we will never accept this. International efforts are required on this issue, especially since the network of illegal migration is international. It is also important that European politicians better understand the situation in Libya. I have already officially invited Chancellor Angela Merkel, and I hope that she will come to Libya soon.
