In Novovoronezh, the opening ceremony of the Inter-regional student construction project Peaceful Atom 2018 was held. 84 students, consisting of six construction teams from Voronezh, Vologda, Tambov and Moscow, will be working at the Novovoronezh NPP-2 for more than a month. Boys will be involved in electrical, painting and plastering works, installation of equipment and metal structures, and girls will be reserved offices, their task is to deal with documentation.
– We are very pleased to welcome student construction teams. I hope that the working semester will be useful: you will gain new knowledge, skills and, of course, will make new friends. But do not forget about the rules of labor protection. Remember, safety, first of all, was advised to students by the director of the Novovoronezh branch of the Directorate for the Construction of the Novovoronezh NPP -2 Atomenergoproekt JSC Oleg Borodin.
Fighters of student construction teams will live on the territory of the construction camp, located on the outskirts of the city of Novovoronezh. There is also the Green Headquarters, where students can contact with any questions.
In addition, an extensive cultural program is planned for young people: creative festivals, business card competitions, sports and athletics competitions, the Miss and Mr. Peaceful Atom 2018 beauty contest and much more.
And at the close of the season, which will be held on the last Friday of August, the names of the best fighters will become known, and the best detachment will receive the winning red banner of the Peaceful Atom 2018 Interregional Student Construction Site.
Indian nuclear scientists visit Novovoronezh NPP to strengthen cooperation
On Friday, July 6, Novovoronezh NPP was visited by representatives of the Atomic Energy Department of the Government of India, the Indian Atomic Energy Corporation (Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd., NPCIL) and Rusatom Overseas. The purpose of their visit was to strengthen Russian-Indian cooperation in the field of atomic energy use.
The Indian nuclear scientists were told about the current state of the existing power units and the specifics of operation of pressurized hull type water reactors with ordinary pressurized water (VVER-1200) of the 3+ generation.
Foreign specialists visited the training center of the nuclear power plant, the control room block, the machine room, the central control room and the indoor switchgear KRUE-500 of the innovative power unit No. 1 of the Novovoronezh NPP-2 of the 3+ generation. In addition, they visited the power unit No. 2 of NNPP-2 under construction, where they were presented with the field engineering center of Atomenergoproekt JSC.
Russia and India have been cooperating in the field of atomic energy since 1988. The key project is the construction of the Kudankulam NPP in southern India. The project involves the construction of six power units with VVER-1000 type reactors: power units No. 1 and No. 2 of the Kudankulam NPP have already been put into commercial operation, construction of power units No. 3 and No. 4 is ongoing, excavation and infrastructure work is underway at the third stage site: power units 5 and 6.
Novovoronezh NPP visited by university professors from newcomers to nuclear energy
The Novovoronezh NPP was visited by teachers from leading universities from 12 newcomers who have just recently begun or plan to develop peaceful nuclear technologies in their territories. The delegation included 30 teachers from Turkey, Egypt, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Poland, Spain, Australia, Bolivia, Indonesia, South Africa, Zambia and Nigeria.
During a tour of the innovative power unit of the 3+ generation, the guests visited the control unit and the hall, talked with the leaders and technical specialists of the Novovoronezh NPP.
– I am amazed at the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant and Russian technology. NPP employees have extensive experience in communicating with foreign delegations. All of them are highly qualified specialists. Having returned home, I will inform my colleagues that we will need experts to train the personnel of the nuclear power plant, ”said Mohamed Sheriff Alkotb, professor at Ain Shams University.
A study tour for representatives of foreign universities took place as part of a training course on the technological aspects of VVER-1200 reactors and the development of educational programs on VVER technology. The delegates learned how the process of education and training of personnel of the nuclear power plant was organized, got acquainted with various simulators and classrooms for theoretical and practical classes, and visited a virtual reality class.
In December 2017, in Cairo, the head of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt Mohammed Shaker signed the acts on the entry into force of commercial contracts for the construction of the El Dabaa NPP. Russia will build four power units with VVER-1200 reactors in the Matruh region on the Mediterranean coast.
