The first inclusion of the main circulation pump at the power unit No. 2 of the Novovoronezh NPP-2 under construction took place at 19:23 on Tuesday, July 17. The pump is an integral part of the equipment of the reactor compartment, and its main task is to ensure the movement of water (coolant) in a closed circuit between the steam generator and the reactor installation.
The inclusion of the main circulation pump No. 2 (MCP-2) was preceded by testing the MCP motor idling. After that, the electric motor was connected directly to the pump and all the mechanisms were tested.
– Vibration status of the pump unit – no comment, process parameters – normal. Turning on MCP-2 is an important procedure. In this way, all the RCCs of the power unit will be tested, and we have four of them, ”said Sergei Zelenin, shift supervisor of the power unit.
At this stage of the pre-launch preparation of the power unit, the pump start-up procedure summarizes the readiness of the first circuit for the next phase – the circulation flushing of the first circuit and the beginning of the cold-hot run-in phase, noted at the station.
At Novovoronezh NPP, preparations for the launch of the second new generation power unit are nearing completion
In the Voronezh region, at the power unit No. 2 of the Novovoronezh NPP-2 (power unit No. 7 of the NVNPP), the stage of cold-hot break-in of equipment (CGO) started.
HGO is the most important stage of commissioning, during which the equipment’s operability is checked: the protection system of the first and second circuits against overpressure is tested, the main circulation pumps (MCP) are tested, the control system of the reactor installation protection is checked.
This is the last major technological operation at the power unit, preceding the physical start-up phase. Cold-hot run-in is carried out to confirm its reliable and safe operation.
The HGO phase will last about 100 days. Run-in began with the “cold” phase, which will take place over 35 days in accordance with the schedule.
“We have already conducted hydraulic tests of the first and second circuits for pressures of 3.2 and 2.0 MPa, confirmed the integrity of these circuits,” said Vladimir Povarov, director of the Novovoronezh NPP, “and now we will turn on the main circulation pumps and perform the necessary tests for density and strength . We must confirm that all mechanisms are working properly and subsequently proceed to the stages that are associated with obtaining a license from Rostekhnadzor for loading nuclear fuel into the reactor.
After the “cold” phase of the CGO, the “hot” phase will begin, which will have to confirm the operability of the main and auxiliary equipment and systems of the reactor installation already in the design, operating modes. At this sub-stage, commissioning and operation specialists will run through four main circulation pumps for 100 hours using hot parameters (target pressure 16.0 MPa and coolant temperature 280 degrees Celsius).
Thus, the successful implementation of cold-hot break-in of the equipment of power unit No. 2 of the NVAES-2 (No. 7 of the NVAES) will mean the completion of one of the last stages before the final readiness for physical launch.
Novovoronezh NPP-2 completed testing of a generator for autonomous power supply
At the pre-launch power unit No. 2 of the Novovoronezh NPP-2, the next important stage of commissioning was completed – complex tests of the diesel generator set (DGU) of the reserve power station. It is needed to power the own needs of the nuclear power plant in the event of an emergency when the main power sources are out of order. The tests were completed on Sunday, August 12th.
In total, three diesel generators are installed on the pre-launch unit. Each of them is a single-unit power plant that ensures the safety of the facility through a separate channel. All diesel generators are equipped with autonomous systems of fuel, cooling, oil, starting air, heating, ventilation, power supply for their own needs.
For high reliability of start-up, each installation is equipped with a duplicated start-up circuit, which is carried out by a signal from the control safety systems. In addition, the project provides for the remote start of generators from the block and standby control panels, as well as the local shield of the standby diesel power station.
As part of the tests, they launched the last diesel generator set and synchronized it with the network. The other two were tested earlier and put on duty.
– The diesel generator set worked under a load of 48 hours, and immediately after the tests it was put into standby mode, that is, on standby. In the event of an emergency, the diesel generator will provide power to the main equipment to put the reactor installation in a safe state, ”said Vladimir Kazansky, deputy chief engineer of the Novovoronezh NPP for the construction of new units.
One of the conditions for the start of the next stage of commissioning, the “hot” phase of cold-hot rolling of equipment, is the setting of all diesel generators on standby. Testing the equipment at operating parameters will be carried out in September 2018.
