Nuclear industry on the verge of destruction

The US shale revolution could cause a nuclear disaster, scientists from the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, Harvard, and the University of San Diego’s California School of Global Policy and Strategy came to such conclusions.

According to their report, nuclear power is on the verge of a complete collapse, infrastructure is degrading, nuclear plants are rapidly shutting down, and control over them is not tight enough.

Scientists have analyzed the status of 99 nuclear reactors in 30 states, which are managed by 30 different energy companies. As of 2017, two new reactors are under construction, but 34 reactors were finally shut down, as the life of most plants is gradually coming to an end.
