Rosrybolovstvo does not expect further growth in prices for red caviar in Russia

Rosrybolovstvo does not expect further growth in prices for red caviar in Russia, since the production of salmon caviar in the country is growing, and the results of the salmon catch this year can be called good, the press service of Rosrybolovstvo told RIA Novosti.

On Friday, the executive director of the Fish Union, Sergei Gudkov, told RIA Novosti that a decrease in the salmon catches on Sakhalin led to an increase in prices for raw materials for the production of red caviar by 1.5 times in annual terms — up to 3 thousand rubles per kilogram at the end of September. According to him, this can lead to an increase in prices for red caviar by the New Year by 30-40%. At the same time, prices should decrease next year.

«According to the analytical industry center, based on the volumes of production, exports and imports, the Russian market for red caviar is estimated at 10-13 thousand tons. The production of salmon caviar in 2014-2015 amounted to over 11 thousand tons, which generally met the needs of the Russian market.» , — said the press service of the Federal Agency for Fishery.

According to Rosstat, the volume of salmon caviar production in Russia in 2016 decreased by 7.1% compared to the previous year and amounted to 10.5 thousand tons. At the same time, the reduction in caviar production occurred against the background of an increase in salmon production.

This year, as of October 9, the total catch of Pacific salmon amounted to 348 thousand tons, which is slightly higher than the volume of the same period in 2015 (plus 250 tons, about 1% growth). The salmon catch, the ministry reminded, is traditionally compared for even and odd years, and odd years are considered more productive.

«At the same time, despite the fact that the volume of production this year is almost 81 thousand tons lower than in 2016 (428 thousand tons were produced by October 9, 2016), according to the operational data of Rosstat, the production of salmon caviar increased by 9 , 4% — up to 10.2 thousand tons (January-August 2017 in relation to the same period in 2016). agency.

WHAT NOW WITH CAVIAR PRICES

Rosrybolovstvo also spoke about the current situation with prices for red caviar. Analysis of the price situation of FSUE «Natsrybresurs» at the moment shows that the average price of slightly salted caviar, depending on the type of fish and the quality of its processing, as well as containers, in the wholesale market of the Far East ranges from 2.4 thousand rubles to 3 thousand rubles per kilogram , in Siberia — from 2.4 thousand to 3.1 thousand rubles.

The cost of a kilogram of red caviar in Central Russia ranges from 2.8 thousand to 3.3 thousand rubles, in the North-West — from 2.9 thousand to 3.3 thousand rubles.

Wholesale prices of caviar a year ago in the Far East were 1.8-2 thousand rubles per kilogram, in Siberia — 1.8-2.1 thousand rubles, in the central and north-western regions — 1.9-2.5 thousand rubles per kilogram.

«The average growth in the price of salmon caviar for the year amounted to about 40% in the regions of production. The average consumer prices in Russia, according to Rosstat, for salmon caviar in September amounted to 3.479 thousand rubles per kilogram, an increase in comparison with December 2016 — 7.9 % «, — noted in the department.

For comparison: in December 2016, the average consumer prices for red caviar in Russia amounted to 3,225 thousand rubles per kilogram, and in December 2015 — 3,014 thousand rubles per kilogram.

ALL WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF SEASONAL DYNAMICS

At the same time, the Rosrybolovstvo press service added, a comparative analysis of Rosstat data on the dynamics of producer prices and consumer prices in recent years shows that in the second half of the year — from August to December — there is traditionally a significant increase in producer prices for caviar, from 20 % to 100%.

«At the same time, retail prices for this period do not change significantly. Thus, the currently observed increase in wholesale prices corresponds to the existing seasonal dynamics. After the New Year holidays, there is a decrease in demand for caviar and a drop in prices,» emphasizes the Federal Agency for Fishery.

Another factor destabilizing prices on the domestic market, the department called the change in the geography of salmon fishing in the Far Eastern fishery basin. Production in Sakhalin is declining, while in Kamchatka it is growing. For example, this year Kamchatka fishermen caught more than 241 thousand tons of salmon as of October 9 — 25.5% more than in 2015.

«On Sakhalin and in the Khabarovsk Territory, the forecasts for the salmon catch did not come true. As a result, market participants have to look for new counterparties and change the logistics of fish and caviar delivery. This can lead to a local increase in wholesale prices for these products,» the department admits.

At the same time, the export of salmon caviar and products from salmon fish does not directly affect the pricing in the current period of 2017. In January-August 2017, compared to the same period in 2016, the export of salmon caviar increased by 5.5 tons (10.8%) and amounted to 56.6 tons.
